Dog Lodging
Whether your pet likes to romp and play or simply relax and be pampered, you can rest assured your canine will enjoy a vacation here with us. Our well-trained, dedicated staff looks forward to lavishing your dog with plenty of one-on-one attention. Pampered Pets makes every effort to ensure all our guests enjoy their stay away from home.
Pampered Pets offers safe and extremely clean dog lodging accomodations for all of our pet guests. You will not find a more elite dog kennel in Central Virginia. Please come and visit us! See for yourself what sets our facility apart from the others. Our canine accommodations offer all the services you would expect for your dog – clean, comfortable, climate-controlled, enclosed surroundings under the attentive eye of our loving staff.
Accommodations
All dogs are comfortably situated in well maintained, individual 14 foot long spacious accommodations which include a private area for resting and a socialization area for exercise and elimination, if needed. Potty Breaks are offered twice daily for our guests that prefer to eliminate in a more natural surrounding.
If you have multiple dogs you may choose to lodge them side-by-side or together in the same run. If lodging together, please let us know when making your reservation if they need to be separated while feeding.
You are encouraged to bring your pets preferred bedding and favorite toy. While infrequent, please be aware these articles may become damaged or possibly lost at times. If it is not feasible to bring your pets own bedding then you may choose to rent our fleece bedding or pet cots for your dogs comfort.
We do everything in our power to make sure our pet guests are as content, comfortable and stress free through our activity based philosophy.
Activities and Pampering - Play Sessions
The experienced staff at Pampered Pets understands each dog has a unique personality. We have Play Sessions for our high-energy guests and for those who enjoy more relaxed play and extra petting attention time. All sessions are offered in 10 minute increments.
Play Sessions can include:
- A game of Catch-Frisbee or ball
- Extra workout playing and running
- Quiet Cuddling and Brushing
Frosty Paws
For afternoon snack time, we offer doggie ice cream to all of our canine guests.
Sammy Snacks
For a bedtime snack, we offer an all organic doggie snack that is baked by a locally owned company here in Charlottesville.
Special Needs
Pampered Pets understands that some of our guests may have special needs. Please feel free to discuss any special requirements with us when you make your reservation. We will do everything in our power to make sure your pet is taken care of and provided for. The following is a sampling of special needs that can be accommodated:
- Medications
- Supplements
- Special meal preparation
- Extra feeding times
- Food from home
- Treats from home
- Special handling care
- Daily brushing
- Special Vet ordered care
Medical Care
If your pet should require medical attention while in our care, our customary procedure is to contact your veterinarian. If your veterinarian’s office is closed we will contact one of the local Emergency Veterinarians. Upon arrival we will ask you to provide your emergency contact information.
Our caring staff can administer any injections, oral or topical medications your dog may require during their visit.
Meals
Our canine guests are fed premium Diamond food during their stay. The specific blend of Diamond food has been chosen for its high palatability and digestibility making it the perfect match for dogs in a lodging situation. Both dry and canned formulas are available. You are welcome to provide your pet's regular food if you choose.
It is recommended you limit the amount of food you provide your pet on the day of admission due to the natural excitement your pet may experience upon arrival at Pampered Pets. Likewise, food and water should be limited for the first hour or two after your pet arrives home. This will allow your pet ample time to settle down before feeding.
Vaccinations
The health and safety of each of our canine guests is very important to us. All canines must have current vaccinations for the following:
- Rabies
- Distemper/Parvo Virus
- Bordetella (Canine Cough Vaccination)
Documentation from a veterinarian is required for each of our guests before admittance can be allowed. If your pet requires an updated vaccination please make arrangements for the vaccination to be administered no less than 7 days before any lodging time is scheduled. Puppies must have the full series of vaccinations including the rabies vaccine no less than 7 days prior to their scheduled stay. Titers will be accepted with proper documentation.
Canine Cough
We would like to make all clients aware that Canine Cough is present in our locality and does not originate at Pampered Pets. While we do not know of any guests in our facility whom are contagious, it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to tell when there may be a guest that has been exposed to Canine Cough prior to their arrival and is "shedding" the virus during their visit. This is due to the pet spreading the virus without showing any signs or symptoms of the illness for 7-10 days. This is why it is VERY difficult for us to know the virus is being shed within the facility. It is always good to make sure your pet has had the Bordatella vaccine within six (6) months of arrival for lodging.
Canine Influenza (FLU)
We are advising all of our clients to speak with their dogs Veterinarian about Canine Influenza a highly contagious virus, having symptoms similar to Canine Cough. Complimentary Visit
The Pampered Pets team of caretakers understands there may be some anxious feelings during your pet's time away from home. Of course you want to make sure the place you choose makes both you and your pet as comfortable as possible. We are happy to schedule a complimentary day trial visit to set your mind at ease. During this stay your pet's comfort level and needs will be monitored and our staff can make recommendations based on your pet’s reactions to the trial visit.
Please note a trial stay may be required for your pet prior to acceptance.
